Do you still remember?

#It's been 4 years since we first started teaching TWDD meditation in Canada, it is hard to believe the time has passed by so fast. For those of you who took the course earlier on and perhaps haven't been practicing regularly but yet recall how great it made you feel, then you may want to consider joining one of our refresher courses to bring you back up to speed. I recommend continuous practice, but it certainly doesn't hurt to re-do the beginner class, who knows -- you may learn something new again! Class listing times are posted to the right.

Intensive practice & reflection ... join our retreat!
Advanced Teaching, White Tower Temple, Sichuan ChinaSept. 19 & 20, 2009

We will be holding the FALL retreat. School has started, kids are back into their programs, employees are back in full swing, and the stress levels are starting to build with Christmas just around the corner. Give yourself a break - two blissful days to zone out of your work mode and time to gain some reflection for the year ahead.

Check out the TWDD Meditation Retreat details. Pre-registration is required.

Q & A with Wen (our Dharma Seat) re: her experience during the July advanced training – White Tower Temple

Q. What did the advance training consist of?

A. Each day we had a schedule of waking up at 4:00 am to attend "the monastic morning session" which is a session of prayers, chanting, singing, prostrating"; afterwards we had silent breakfast with prayer before and after, then we attended lectures most of the day, where Master Haikong personally taught us. The lectures consisted of learning more about what is behind TWDD Meditation practice, its origin, technique etc. Many of the lectures are only applicable for the student practitioners, so I can't really go into detail here, but the lessons were amazing and so much to absorb. Each day we would eat lunch, then some days from noon onwards, we would fast. This certainly helped with our meditation practice. Each night we would also do our 1.5 hour standing meditation out in the court yard, near the 16 meter giant buddha statue.

Q. What was the mood/environment like when you were amongst all the practitioners during the advanced training?

A. The air and the energy was amazing, everyone there with a purpose to transform their lives through learning and practice. Master Haikong's energy emanates the whole area, and you can feel the energy of each of the practitioners, many who practice diligently and so well. We considered the temple as the heavenly realm.

Q. What would you say would be the highlight of your experience?

A. The realization of what is the most important thing in life and in my journey pursuing the path. Although I tend to think I have an idea about those principles on my own, but by being part of the training, listening to Shifu’s teaching and taking it in to heart, I realize that the journey could be so much closer and in the meantime far away from what I could perceive. Leaving the perception behind is the true path.
