Classes starting up again!
After a nice long month off, with Wen in China, we are ready to start up again our classes offered each Saturday and meditation practice sessions in the afternoon for those who have completed the beginner class. If it has been awhile since your beginner class, we invite you back for a refresher. See the blue side panel for class schedule.
Congratulations & Welcome Home ...
During the month of July, Wen and a few of the practitioners from Canada and United States joined hundreds of others in some advanced dharma training with Master Haikong. Congratulations to 5 of Master Haikong's Canadian practitioners who became 'Dharma Seats' (Teachers for the first level meditation teaching). This is wonderful, as now, we have more ability to spread to our communities the importance of bringing meditation into our daily lives.
We look forward to their participation with submission of their experiences to share with all of us on the website forum. Those who went, please feel free to share with us; sign in using your dharma name.
Shared Experience ...
For me, the lamp on the path has shined much brighter ever since I began my practice. I sometimes laugh, as it’s sometimes hard to believe that it has been a little less than a year since I began practicing meditation and studying Dharma.
I feel very fortunate to have been able to meet with TWDD meditation practice and Master Haikong’s teachings. The further along I progress, the more I realize what a profound practice it really is.
I have often considered the path leading to my practice. I now feel it attributed to “cause and conditions”. To use an analogy, one can plant a seed, which is the cause, but if one does not have the favorable conditions such as fertile soil, sun, moisture, etc, than the seed is unlikely to grow. By viewing things in such a way, it has allowed me to continue to progress along the path, trying to plant good seeds, in hopes that with the right conditions that they will bear good fruits. In a Buddhist context, I feel that these seeds were planted long ago, and I am just “picking up where I had left off.”
Having become a daily practitioner while also studying various teachings, has allowed me to take a different outlook on life in general. One that has a seemingly bigger picture than what we would normally perceive. As I have much more to learn and much more to realize, I feel this is merely a step along the way.
