White Tower Temple Sichuan China# This past week 2 of our TWDD Canadian students flew off to China for a meditation retreat. It's the first time back since they came with us in 2007. This will be very exciting for them and we look forward to hearing about their experiences on their return. WeiXia and Lenny will take good care of them, and JiLing has set up a meditation schedule for them along with following the monks daily routine.

# We have expanded into the Chinese community and last week taught a number of Cantonese and Mandarin speaking students who came in from the Scarborough area. This was a great experience for Wen to brush up on her Cantonese. If you would like this meditation in Mandarin/Cantonese, please let us know and we will set up specific language classes to accommodate.

# This month we have been invited to participate in a corporate conference during their health and wellness session in Niagara-on-the-Lake. We look forward to teaching them various forms of meditation styles as well as some theory that supports the meditation practice. If you know of, or are part of a corporate or educational setting and looking for guest speakers or meditation session, feel free to contact us for our availability.

TWDD Canada Challenge
Join in the Meditation ChallengeSo how is everyone doing with their challenge? Some of you have signed up and promised to do daily practice and no matter for how long in one session you do, we encourage you to challenge yourself to keep this up. This challenge continues, and even if you start today, do so for 3-months! You will see significant improvements in yourself as a result. By participating in the challenge, and letting us know about it, you hold yourself accountable and we can offer the support from the meditation community.

It's an opportunity to look deep within our mind, enhance our awareness and build on our practice strength. The value one receives through this experience can be life changing but only if you commit yourself to the experience.

Shared Dharma TeachingWhat are the Three Principals of the Path?

  • correct motivation - renunciation;
  • generate Bodhicitta - the heart of compassion;
  • developing the wisdom that realizes the emptiness of all phenomena, including the emptiness of self;

...Setting forth renunciation, does not mean to be negative or pessimistic, but to observe the truth of life through a positive attitude, to eradicate distress, to be free from pain and suffering and attain great peace and ease. While some people may wonder that our life is quite good, why we need to renounce, and what to be renounced?

...Great Master Je Tsongkhapa stated that generating Bodhicitta is the backbone of the Mahayana teaching, the root of all great deeds, the magical accumulator of wisdom and fortune and the treasure reserve of endless merit. With Bodhicitta – the heart of compassion, all our good deeds will be transformed into elements of attaining Buddha hood, and will create tremendous merits, virtues and benefits to us.
